Fishing Report -- 05-19-12
Keeping with the fishing with family theme, today was fishing with the wife. Usually Sherry brings pretty good luck and today was no exception. We started the day catching some live baits and feeding them to some nice Kingfish. Sherry had about a 30 pounder on that skyed on the bait 15 feet from the boat before heading for the horizon. Unfortunately after about 5 minutes the hook pulled on this fish. Disappointed but not too discouraged we went back to the Kings and landed 4 fish to about 18 pounds. Also Sherry landed a really nice sized Blacktip shark, for a moment there we thought we had a really big Kingfish hooked up. The sun was getting up and the clouds were staying away so this time of the year that means time to look for the Permit. It took a little looking around but finally we found them and it was game on. After it was all said and done we landed 3 Permit all about the same size. The one Permit that we did weigh was 32 pounds. We also got a Margate, not something we catch everyday, they are such pretty fish, check out the photo. The storms were building so we headed back in and caught a few Snook on the way back to the boat ramp. The biggest was 32 inches. If it wasn’t for the lightning chasing us we could have really put a hurting on the Snook, that will have to wait for next time
