Fishing Report -- 04-28-12

The wind was not our friend today, this time of year it’s all about timing, we do get beautiful weather days however sometimes they just don’t coincide with when folks can go fishing. Art was a victim of this. Jack Crevalles on fly were the target but the wind just wasn’t going to let that happen. So we had to change it up a bit and do the best we could under the circumstances. We were however able to poke out the inlet briefly first thing in the morning. Fortunately there were schools of small Bonito’s right outside the inlet and they were willing to take the fly. It was rough and standing and casting a fly line was challenging to say the least. However Art prevailed and landed 3 Bonito’s on fly before we figured it was getting a little too uncomfortable and came back in the inlet to calmer waters. We switched gears to fishing with spinning gear and live bait for Snook. Not a bad alternative. The Snook are starting to move towards the inlets nicely now and although not the super big girls of summer yet the action was still pretty good. Art landed 7 Snook, two of which were 27 inches. Pretty decent day considering the weather factor. Summer is coming and also those nice calm days, after days like today it makes you appreciate them a little more.
